Parkhill Road Closed After Three-Vehicle Crash Injures Three

A section of Parkhill Road remains closed this afternoon following a serious three-vehicle collision that sent three people to hospital, one with injuries severe enough to require transfer to a Toronto trauma facility.

The Peterborough Police Service reports the crash occurred at approximately 12:15 p.m. on Thursday between Medical Drive and Monaghan Road. Emergency responders transported all three injured individuals to Peterborough Regional Health Centre, where one patient's condition necessitated further treatment at a Toronto-area trauma hospital.

Members of the police Traffic Unit are now on scene conducting a detailed collision reconstruction investigation, work that is expected to keep the roadway closed for several hours. The investigation aims to determine the exact circumstances that led to the multi-vehicle crash during the midday hours.

The closure is creating access challenges for residents in the immediate area. Police say there is currently no vehicle access from Parkhill Road to the residences at 700 Parkhill Road. Residents who need to reach other apartment buildings within the closure zone are being asked to park in a safe location and approach officers on foot at either end of the road closure, where police will work to accommodate their access needs.

Motorists are urged to avoid the area entirely and use alternate routes while the investigation continues. The extended closure underscores the severity of the collision and the thoroughness required for the reconstruction work.

Our thoughts are with those injured in this afternoon's crash and their families as they receive medical care. We will update this story as more information becomes available from the Peterborough Police Service.
